2.) For users of IRC chat clients (mIRC, X-Chat, etc):
In
the status window of your preferred chat client type /server -m
irc.induced.net. Once connected get a channel list (type /list in
the command line, or click on the room list icon in the menu bar of your
IRC client) and join
a chat room (or rooms) that looks interesting to you, or you can start your own room and
bring your friends. If you want assistance with starting your own
room, join the #Help room and ask one the network administrators for
advice.
(Note: As with most networks, the admins are volunteers so there might
not actually be someone available at the time you join the room.
Simply leave a message and one of the admins will contact you as soon as
they see your message. If you are unable to stay online for any
reason, the admins can send you a memo, via the network's memo system,
or an e-mail to your preferred e-mail address (ideally, this should be
the same one registered against your nickname) - just let them know
which you would prefer).
If
you don't have an IRC chat client and would like to get one instead of
using your web browser (IRC clients usually provide a faster chat
response, use less bandwidth and a smaller amount of your internet
allowance from your isp), you can start with either the basic, raw mIRC
here. A better option is a well-built, easy to install client with
built in scripts that enhance the functionality, such as the scripts
available on iServ.
